‘Beauty and the Beast’ Debuts With Estimated $63.8M on Friday

With an estimated $63.78 million, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast topped the Friday box office, on its way to a three-day currently expected to finish anywhere from $155-162 million according to industry sources. There remains a chance it could reach Batman v Superman‘s $166 million, March opening record, but it’s too early to tell if that will be the case. By comparison, Batman v Superman brought in $81.5 million on Friday.

Additionally, BH Tilt’s The Belko Experiment brought in an estimated $1.5 million on Friday and is currently headed toward a $3.6 million opening, just a bit below the studio’s hoped for $4 million. And, TriStar’s limited release of T2 Trainspotting into four theaters resulted in an estimated $64,000 on Friday and is looking at a weekend around $170K-200K.

The Circle to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival

Variety has reported that Emma Watson’s new movie, The Circle, will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next April, in New York City. We don’t know yet if Emma will attend the premiere, but it is highly likely !

The world premiere of James Ponsoldt’s “The Circle,” starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, and a starry reunion screening of the first two films in “The Godfather” trilogy are among the notable additions to the feature film slate at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.

“The Circle” will debut in a gala screening at Tribeca ahead of its April 28 release from STX Entertainment. Based on the novel by Dave Eggers, the movie stars Watson (“Beauty and the Beast”) as a young woman hired at a giant Silicon Valley tech and social media company founded by a guru played by Hanks. John Boyega and Bill Paxton are also among the cast of the film co-written with Eggers by director Ponsoldt (“The Spectacular Now,” “The End of the Tour”).

Here’s a fun game to play: we talk sustainable fashion, and you try to stay awake through to the end of the sentence. Still there?

We’re kidding, of course. But we’d be lying if we said that for too long, conscious fashion has had a reputation for being not just a snooze, but something best paired with patchouli—the furthest possible thing from what you think of when it comes to mega-wattage red carpets or Parisian ateliers.Continue Reading
